Lānaʻi City Service

Description by Malia George
I like going to the gas station, it is fun.  It reminds me of the stores at Kosrae.  I like the ice cream in the cup.  I also like chips and hot cheetos.  I like to drink Mountain Dew.  That’s why I like the gas station.  It is the best place ever!

History by Tyson Olter
Lānaʻi City Service has a very interesting past.  The place where it is now use to be an old mule stable.  It also use to be a stable camp.  Later it was a gas station.  Now it has Napa. Lānaʻi City Service sells food and drinks.  It is a place where you can buy things and you can fill up gas.

Interview with Felix Ballesteros, by Malia GeorgeIMG_8498
I interviewed Felix Ballesteros.  He gave me lots of facts.

Felix Ballesteros came from Maui.  When he was there he stayed in Keleko(?).  On Lānaʻi he worked at the gas station for two years starting in 1952.  Then he went to Hawaiʻi and came back in 1956.  When the gas station closed he went and worked at the school as head custodian.

When Felix Ballesteros worked at the gas station it was called the Nishimura Brothers Service Station.  The Nishimura brothers were nice.  One of the brothers was Shigeo.  Shigeo was the younger brother.  Susumu was the older brother.  The brothers were in charge of the service station.

Felix Ballesteros told us a story about a man.  It was the man’s turn to change the oil.  First the man put the stand under the car but he didn’t really put it under the car.  He didn’t know.  The man went under the car and the car fell on him.

These are some facts about Felix Ballesteros and the Lānaʻi City Service gas station.

Description by Tyson Olter

I love going to Lānaʻi City Service.  The best food over there is the hot dog and Pepsi.  I also like the hot Cheetos.  Another thing that I do at the gas station is to get gas.  It helps me get around the island.  The last thing that I like about the gas station is it is close to my house.  Lānaʻi City Service is the best.
