Lānaʻi Hula Hut

By Ela Sunke
I have good memories at the Lānaʻi Hula Hut.  It has beautiful jewelry.  I got a gorgeous orange bracelet when my friend was visiting.  It’s relaxing at the Lānaʻi Hula Hut.  It makes me feel happy listening to the small wind chimes that hang inside.  There are new things everyday in the Lānaʻi Hula Hut.  Things are always changing because they try to make it pretty inside and outside.  The Lānaʻi Hula Hut is my favorite place to go shop on Lānaʻi.

The History of the Lānaʻi Hula Hut
The building where Lānaʻi Hula Hut is was built in 1925.  First it was a fish store and tofu store.  After the fish store, in 1930 it became a shoe store.  Then it was the beauty shop.  In 1970 it became Dis n Dat.  The Hula Hut opened in 2015.  The Hula Hut sells jewelry.

Interview with Jessie Myers and Gail Allen
I was lucky to interview two people who worked at the Hula Hut Building.  First I interviewed Gail Allen.  She worked at the Hula Hut in 2014.  She said it used to be Dis n Dat shop.  Outside an old car named Chugo belonged to the owners Barry and Suzie.  Then I interviewed Jessie Figuerres.  She worked at the building when it was called Dis n Dat.  She said they sold food.  Her daughter went there to wait for her.  I learned that there were a lot of facts.
